Welcome to Adam's Photographic Memories! I would like to tell you a little about myself and the photos I shoot.
Born and raised in a small town in Norfolk County, Ontario, Canada I've always had a country boy heart. The Love of Nature and God's creatures( especially birds) has been instilled within me from a very young age. I remember being a young boy, at my Grandparents home, on the outskirts of town, laying down on the living room carpet with my Grandpa's old, rusted binoculars, looking through their large glass sliding doors, spotting birds at the feeders and flipping through a bird book, learning about the different species.
As I grew older, I'd venture a little further away from home on my pedal bike to farm ponds to catch Large mouth bass and the likes. This is when I first started to use cameras,at first, it was disposable film cameras, who's purpose was simple: record my catches. I would at times take other photos of sunsets and pets. One year I requested a digital camera for Christmas and from there the passion of photography had begun.
What's with the name?
The reason I chose Adam's Photographic Memories for my photography, is a little play on words. Photographic memory or Eidetic memory By definition :is an ability to vividly recall images from memory after only a few instances of exposure, with high precision for a brief time after exposure. Well, sadly I do not possess such an incredible mind or recall memories normally with such detail, but something happens when I do take a photo, especially a memorable one. I am able to go back to the day, the location, what the weather was like, who I was with and the feelings I had when I pressed that shutter. Photography is more than just a picture for me, it's a way to preserve memories for years to come.
Some people stick to a specific genre or niche, but for me? I think variety is the spice of life. I am a creative person and like trying new things, I couldn't imagine sticking to only one genre of photography. I like to shoot:
Nature - from landscapes to forests.
Birds - like I said earlier, I've been fascinated with birds from a young age, and it has stuck with me into my Adult life. I like Birds of Prey ( Hawks, Eagles, Owls) to small Song birds and also Water Fowl.
Abstract - I find myself doing more of this genre over time. I like to have a single subject and create a specific mood. It could be a warm, happy setting, or a cold and lonely one.
Rural - Since I grew up in a small town, I can appreciate the allure of country living and the simplicity of it. I like to take photos of farms, old weathered barns, farm animals and country landscapes.
Monochrome - There is a time and place for monochrome. I don't shoot a lot of black and white images, but some things like old railways, abandoned buildings, and barns ready to fall down just need a black and white take on it.
